This program proposes an exchange between two traditions: on the one hand, classical music’s scholarly approach and notation, and on the other hand electronic music’s tradition of improvisation. The idea is to break down the barriers between aesthetics through the meeting of two ensembles with radically different musical approaches: 2E2M (France) and Zeitkratzer (Germany). The performance includes Lou Reed’s iconic, cutting-edge Metal Machine Music in an amplified acoustic version, and Agitation/Stagnation, a work which aims for uncontrolled, brutal chaos, from young experimental composer Kasper Toeplitz. The eighteen musicians will come together to provide the audience with an unprecedented visual and acoustic experience.
