We Need to Talk is a Franco-British music collaboration that brings together two festivals (soundfestival and Détours de Babel), and two composers (Laura Bowler and Frédéric Pattar) and two cellists (Noémi Boutin and Matthew Sharp) from both sides of the Channel. Through the pieces composed specifically for this project, the two cellists confront and challenge each other, search for words and images in a musical, theatrical and poetic duel/duet. Frédéric Pattar’s piece will have five distinct movements like five rounds of a “battle” and Laura Bowler’s work will translate the intimate bound between them two as artists and their instruments.
