Contemporary Music for All
The Contemporary Music for All (CoMA) fifth biennial festival includes two new commissions by composer and musician Jasmine Morris (UK/JP) and composer Guilia Lorusso (FR/IT). They will be performed by CoMA ensembles in the UK, by the Paris-based community music initiative MusEA Ensemble in France and by the Limerick New Music Ensemble in Ireland.
“I’m extremely happy to take part in this composition project with MusEA and Contemporary Music for All. Transmission and dissemination of contemporary music are central concerns of my reflexion.”
Giulia Lorusso, composer

“I have recently been exploring various folk fiddle playing traditions; specifically from Celtic lineages and its growth into ‘Old timey Appalachian American folk music. […] It was refreshing to research and listen to a somewhat removed practice and was very much drawn to the fleetingness, fragility and intermittency of the fiddle sound. […] This commission is an unusual and exciting opportunity to create a work that is not only accessible to musicians of varying technical calibres but also in its flexible notation requirements which allows for unique performances each time.”
